PALANPUR: A woman died after jumping into a canal along with four daughters, two of whom also drowned, in Banaskantha district of Gujarat on Saturday, police said.
The incident happened in Chotha Nesda village in Tharad taluka and the woman has been identified as Divaliben Parmar (29), an official said.
“She jumped into a canal of the Narmada along with her four daughters. The woman and two of her daughters, in the 3-6 age group, died, while the other two were rescued by passersby. The reason for her taking this extreme step is being ascertained,” the Tharad police station official said.
